Yom HaShoah was established in Israel in 1953 and is known officially there as Yom Hazikaron Lashoah V’lagvurah (Holocaust and Heroism Remembrance Day). It’s a day when many Jewish communities hold special ceremonies to honor the memory of those who were killed in the Holocaust.

San Francisco’s Holocaust Remembrance Day brings together survivors, musicians, historians, and many members of our community to honor victims of the Shoah.

The commemoration of Yom HaShoah in San Francisco is presented on partnership by: JFCS Holocaust Center, Lehrhaus Judaica, JCCSF, and the Jewish Community Relations Council, and the USC Shoah Foundation.
