Scope and Contents note

The collection is comprised of one item, a typed report of 131 pages, written by Holocaust survivor Josef Butterman, and dedicated to the fifteenth anniversary of the liberation of Concentration Camp Bergen-Belsen. The report includes numerous photographs and documents Mr. Butterman's personal experiences as a displaced person living in the camp after its liberation on April 15, 1945 until 1952. The report describes political factions within the camp, cultural and athletic activities, and comments on intermarriage in later chapters. The report is an outspoken personal account and reflects Mr. Butterman's personal prejudices.
