The Children of Willesden Lane Bay Area BIG READ

The JFCS Holocaust Center is happy to announce an exciting new opportunity to engage students about the Holocaust using an interactive curriculum focusing on art, music, and the power of storytelling. All Northern California teachers (grades 6-12) are invited!

This training is part of a larger initiative that teaches students about the Holocaust and the transformative nature of art. Attend a teacher workshop, receive a classroom set of The Children of Willesden Lane, and bring your students to an incredible live performance in November.

Participating teachers receive:Book cover - The Children of Willesden Lane

  1. Classroom activities and strategies to teach about the Holocaust, including making connections between the refugees of the Holocaust and today’s current refugee crisis.
  2. A full set of classroom books of The Children of Willesden Lane, and other classroom materials.
  3. A special invitation for you and your students to attend a live theatrical retelling of the book in November 2016.

Over 7,000 students and teachers from Northern California will participate in the program, which has been making its way around the country with spectacular reviews. The program culminates in an award winning theatrical production by concert pianist and acclaimed storyteller Mona Golabek about how the power of music helped a teen survive the Holocaust.
